The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is a national voluntary health agency dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodfkin's disease and myeloma and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The society accomplishes these goals through a wide variety of programs and services.
Team in Training is the largest endurance sports training program in the world. Each year the society organizes 200 teams of volunteers to participate in more than 40 accredited marathons in the US and abroad. An additional 40 teams participate in century rides (100 miles) and triathlon events have recently been added to the program. Annually, more than 30,000 people volunteer with Team in Training to support the society's mission. Team volunteers receive 4-5 months of training and fitness counseling from certified coaches.
